Is SHOUTcast Available On Plesk?

SHOUTcast Internet radio is one of the most popular website additions right now, and many hosting providers are asked to implement this feature or to offer the option to end users looking to set up their own website.  This has caused many to ask whether SHOUTcast is implemented into the Plesk control panel software.  Unfortunately, the answer right now is no.  Currently, the only existing integration with SHOUTcast is through cPanel/WHM and WHMSonic.  This module allows customers to easily manage their listeners, sound quality of their streams, and much more from within the control panel.

plesk shoutcast license Is SHOUTcast Available On Plesk?

For those looking to integrate SHOUTcast on a Plesk based hosting site, the only recommended solution that enables retaining Plesk is quite complex, although certainly manageable.  It is possible to simply install SHOUTcast manually as a service within a Plesk VPS.  After doing this, you can use SSH, or shell access, to manually manage the interactions between you and your listeners.  While it does cut back a great deal in terms of features and functionality, it enables you to keep operating within a Plesk based environment.

Of course, there is also the option to simply switch over to the cPanel/WHM control panel and to combine it with the WHMSonic plug-in.  Doing this would allow you to easily manage all of your interactions via a web interface, which would in turn make it much simpler to not only manage listeners, but to manage all of the small details and features of your station as well.  Integration may become available on Plesk in the future, depending on demand and the decisions of the company, but for now it is simply not an option.  Unfortunately, it seems that users looking to integrate SHOUTcast will have to choose between a lengthy workaround or a new control panel environment to really make use of the program.

SolusVM Alternatives – Do They Exist?

Virtualization is still one of the biggest things for hosting resellers, but many feel that SolusVM is the only virtualization option available.  It is true that SolusVM is one of the very few programs that is geared specifically towards a cost conscious market, which means that finding a viable and equally beneficial alternative is a bit harder, but that does not make it impossible.  There are certainly alternative virtualization programs out there, but it is going to take a bit of hard work and research to find one that offers the same benefits for the same price point as SolusVM license.  In truth, you are likely going to need to spend more in order to find another product.

The best alternative to SolusVM is absolutely going to be Virtuozzo from Parallels, but the bottom line is that you are going to have to spend more in order to make the switch.  If cost is your main reason for using SolusVM, you may be best to continue using the program, but if cost isn’t a factor, you may find that you prefer Virtuozzo for a number of reasons.  It is worth noting that Parallels Virtuozzo, is the absolute leader when it comes to virtualization.  The company has been doing virtual machines since 2001, which is when Virtuozzo, or VZ, was created as a container management system.

You will find that Virtuozzo offers a very wide range of tools and features that you can use to manage your virtual container environments on a day to day basis.  The program is certainly a viable and recommended alternative to SolusVM.  While it is a more expensive virtualization option, most find that the added features and tools, combined with the experience and reputation of Parallels as a whole, make it one that is well worth the upgrade.

What Are Some Good cPanel Alternatives?

In terms of control panel software, cPanel and WHM have long been the traditional default choices.  There is no doubt that the programs are quality and that they are effective, but for some users, there has certainly long been a need for greater scalability and more features.  The days where there were no real alternatives to these programs have long since ended, and there are actually a number of new and existing programs available that provide a great alternative to cPanel.  Plesk, ISPManager, InterWorx, and DirectAdmin all provide excellent alternatives for people whose needs are simply not met by cPanel.

cPanel License Alternative What Are Some Good cPanel Alternatives?

What you will notice when searching for control panel software these days is that cPanel alternatives are not hard to find at all.  In fact, they are quite prevalent. A Plesk license, for example, is largely considered to be cPanel’s biggest competitor.  The software is incredibly feature rich, and it is also far less expensive to the end users who are required to purchase it.  Add to this a much more user-friendly design and approach and you can start to see why the control panel software is giving cPanel a real competition in terms of popularity and user numbers alike.

Most of the cPanel alternatives, including Plesk, ISPManager, and DirectAdmin offer not just the same level of functionality as cPanel, but in many cases, they offer more.  Benefits such as increased scalability to really meet the specific needs of the end user as well as lower costs and resource requirements make these alternatives a very viable and worthwhile option for a large number of hosting companies.  Modern solutions offer a vast number of scripts as well as easy script installation and top level support.  While a cPanel license will certainly still hold a place in the market, it is no longer the only option or even guaranteed to be the most effective option.
